Problem strikes continued to plague the Walking Liberty half dollar in 1920. It was common throughout most of its 30 year production. Fully struck pieces are scarce. Passage of the 19th amendment to the Constitution guarantees women the right to vote and Warren G. Harding is elected as President of the U.S. in the first election open to women. Babe Ruth is traded by the Boston Red Sox to the New York Yankees.
The Philadelphia Mint sees 6,372,000 Walking Liberty halves produced, Denver produces 1,551,000 and San Francisco mints 4,624,000 of the silver half dollars. Clashed dies, doubled D mint mark and the flat top S lead the varieties for 1920.
