1929 Walking Liberty

It was an incredibly tumultuous year in 1929. The stock market crash turned the country upside down. For the Walking Liberty half dollar production happened in both Denver and San Francisco. None were produced in Philadelphia. Both mint marks are relatively available in mint state probably because few were issued or made it to circulation because of the market crash. While strikes tended to be better weak strikes are still apparent for 1929. Martin Luther King, Jr was born, Popeye made his debut and of course the Great Depression began wreaking its havoc.

The Denver mint saw the production of 1,001,200 half dollars and San Francisco produce another 1,902,000 silver halves. Many fully struck coins from both mints exist in mint state condition, probably from never being issued because of all the financial chaos.
