1935 Walking Liberty

Walking Liberty half dollars are back to full production in 1935. All 3 mints, Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco produce huge amounts of the coins. Philadelphia is responsible for the production of 9,162,000 coins, Denver adds 3,003,800 and San Francisco mints another 3,854,000 silver halves. The nation is hungry for coinage to supply an expanding economy. President Roosevelt signs the order creating the Works Progress Program, the WPA. Babe Ruth hits his 714th home run and the dust storms continue unabated in the midwest.

The Walking Liberty is still difficult to find fully struck, particularly with full details on Miss Libertys head. The silver coin is plentiful in circulated condition all the way to AU.
